0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Viktor Ransom! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A looping hook to the body misses from Matsumoto. Ransom does a little dance to reset his feet. Matsumoto shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Ransom is looking to escape. Matsumoto looks to score some points with some ground and pound. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Matsumoto lands a nice short elbow. Matsumoto thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Matsumoto winds up and cracks Ransom with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Matsumoto thows a huge punch but Ransom dodges it nicely.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ransom can do anything to dispel that myth. Ransom avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Matsumoto. Matsumoto wants to work for an arm triangle but Ransom is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Matsumoto missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Matsumoto prevents Ransom from improving his position. Ransom has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Matsumoto is working away from the top position though. Matsumoto not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matsumoto not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Ransom wants to clinch up but Matsumoto keeps it at a distance. Ransom misses with a takedown attempt and Matsumoto counters with a right hand to the body. Ransom misses with a takedown and Matsumoto counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Ransom! Matsumoto landing strikes from the mount and Ransom is in trouble! Ransom is squirming around, avoiding Matsumoto's attempts to control the action. Ransom taking shots to the head. Ransom takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Matsumoto's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
