PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rob Schwartz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rip Off (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Schwartz comes to the cage accompanied by Baby Got Back. Rip Off struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 156.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rob Schwartz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rip Off!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Off shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Off was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Off wants to control the pace but Schwartz is squirming around nicely.

Off is looking to improve his position but Schwartz isn't that keen on the idea.
Schwartz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Schwartz has hold of Off's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Off manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Schwartz cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Schwartz is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Schwartz seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Off keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Off closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Off lands in his opponent's guard.
Off is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rob Schwartz dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Schwartz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Off.
Schwartz tries to score with a low kick but Off moves his leg out of the way.
Schwartz lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Schwartz goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Schwartz misses with a takedown attempt - Off sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rob Schwartz will probably get the nod.

Schwartz's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Off is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Schwartz still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Schwartz has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
