Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Matt Larson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chung Lee! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yuuki Gou and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Larson as Lee shoots in. Lee showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Larson.
Larson darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Lee fails with an attempt to clinch.
Larson cracks Lee with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Larson tries to bum rush Lee with a series of wild strikes but Lee uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Larson throws a series of punches but Lee moves out of range. Larson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Lee bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Lee is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Larson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Larson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Lee has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Larson is breathing heavily. Lee throwing shots but missing, from side control. Lee is trying to get an arm triangle but Larson is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Larson wants to get back to his feet but Lee drags him back down. Lee decides to take the fight back to the feet. Some wild striking there from Larson.
Larson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Larson scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Larson throws a right and a left that both miss. Lee shoots in for a double leg but Larson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Larson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lee buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Lee bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Larson is looking to get back to his feet here but Lee is keeping cool and he's managed to take Larson's back. Larson is trying to defend against the choke here but Lee has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Lee Tightens the hold and Larson taps out furiously! Lee displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Chung Lee!
