Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dionicio Pizarro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marlon Oliveira! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pizarro looks for a takedown but Oliveira sprawls well. Oliveira looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Pizarro looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Pizarro throwing strikes from guard but Oliveira blocks nicely. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pizarro stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Oliveira swivels though and keeps the full guard. Pizarro forces his way into half guard. Oliveira really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pizarro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pizarro throwing shots but Oliveira is blocking nicely. Pizarro wants to free his trapped foot but Oliveira is holding on for dear life with his legs. Pizarro missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Pizarro working the head and body with strikes. Pizarro is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Pizarro trying to mount his opponent but Oliveira defends it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Oliveira looks like he's trying to stand up.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Pizarro shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Oliveira as he avoids it easily. Oliveira tries to clinch there but Pizarro circles away.
Marlon Oliveira is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Oliveira throws a leg kick but Pizarro sees it coming and checks it nicely. Oliveira wants to clinch. Pizarro avoids a kick to the body.
Marlon Oliveira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pizarro closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pizarro lands in his opponent's guard. Pizarro passes easily into side control. Nice work. Oliveira is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Pizarro is controlling him well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pizarro scoring with punches from side control. Oliveira on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Pizarro is putting a hurting on Oliveira here, landing some big shots from side control. Pizarro tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Pizarro cracks Oliveira with a big right hand but Oliveira just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Pizarro wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Oliveira, who protects the arm well. Oliveira is pushing Pizarro's head away, looking to escape. Pizarro manages to hold on to the position though. Pizarro advances nicely into full mount. You get the feeling that Oliveira really doesn't like being in this position too much.
The referee warns Oliveira that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Pizarro is working for a guillotine from mount but Oliveira frees his head quite easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Oliveira is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Pizarro with good strikes from the mount here! Pizarro lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Oliveira hang on? Oliveira is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Pizarro punishing his opponent with strikes. Pizarro is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Oliveira can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Oliveira has left one of his arms exposed and Pizarro doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Oliveira screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
