PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pawel Sowinski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dodong Angas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Angas is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Paint in Black. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pawel Sowinski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dodong Angas!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Hirohito Nitta and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sowinski moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Angas displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sowinski throws out the jab.
Angas fails to land with a series of punches.

Angas feints and as Sowinski raises his hands in defense, Angas changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Sowinski is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Angas is aware though and is defending well.
Angas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sowinski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sowinski is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Angas throws a series of strikes that have Sowinski backpedaling.
Sowinski tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Sowinski swings for the body but Angas moves out of range.
Angas throws a series of punches but Sowinski moves out of range.
Angas throws a right and a left that Sowinski avoids nicely.
Sowinski throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Angas.

Angas closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Angas has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Sowinski regains guard immediately.
Angas slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Angas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That was a close round but I would say that Pawel Sowinski will probably get the nod.

Angas drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sowinski gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Angas can do anything to dispel that myth.

Dodong Angas has got the better of the ground game so far.
Angas thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sowinski's head.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

I think Angas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
