Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sasha Zamiatin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Juan Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zamiatin shoots in but no luck this time. Zamiatin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Zamiatin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Zamiatin trying to control from Sanchez's half guard. Sanchez has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Zamiatin trying to control but Sanchez is working from the bottom. Zamiatin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Zamiatin gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. The fight stays on the outside here - Sanchez looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Zamiatin swats away the attempt to clinch by Sanchez. Sanchez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Zamiatin.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez tests Zamiatin's chin there with a solid looking shot. Sanchez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Zamiatin circles away quickly and effectively. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Zamiatin is defended easily by Sanchez. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sasha Zamiatin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sanchez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. The fight stays on the outside here - Sanchez looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Sanchez scores with a hook.
It looks like Sasha Zamiatin has been cut. Sanchez tries to clinch but Zamiatin is having none of it. Zamiatin gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sanchez closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Zamiatin out cold! Zamiatin corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Juan Sanchez!
