The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves looks to score with a jab to the body but Carter is just out of range.
Carter keeps the fight on the outside.
Carter has managed to clinch.
Carter lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Alves is trying to break the clinch but Carter has him pressed against the cage.
Alves has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Carter lands a body shot.
A nice right hand lands inside from Carter.
Carter lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Alves works on Carter's body with a couple of short punches.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Carter just misses with a elbow thrown towards Alves's brow.
Carter can't find room to land a body shot as Alves controls the action.
A right hook to the body lands for Carter.
Carter misses with a punch on the inside.
Still in the clinch, Carter scores with a nice short uppercut.
Alves takes a shot to the head.
Alves tries to throw a body punch but Carter avoids it by throwing Alves back against the cage.
Carter lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Alves to his knees! Carter keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ian Carter!
