Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between pete jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and manny makunouchi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). makunouchi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. sandstorm kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! manny makunouchi is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
makunouchi connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
jones wants to clinch up but makunouchi keeps it at a distance.
jones misses with a few strikes there.
makunouchi misses with a double jab.

makunouchi throws a left and a right that both miss
and jones counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps makunouchi thinking.
jones shoots in for a takedown but makunouchi shows good takedown defense.
makunouchi swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and jones connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

makunouchi looks to throw the jab but jones is out of range.
makunouchi lands a nice looking body shot.

jones bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
No joy there for makunouchi, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

jones takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
makunouchi lands with a hook. jones tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
jones gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
makunouchi darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for jones . He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

makunouchi slips a jab and a cross from jones .
jones is breathing heavily.
jones looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? makunouchi is fending him off so far but jones persists. Nope, makunouchi circles away and we're back to standing.
makunouchi leaves jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

makunouchi finds jones 's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! jones flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. makunouchi lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure jones will be OK.
