Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Donnie Nietes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrew Hawkins!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hawkins gets the takedown into side control.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!
Nietes manages to get back to half guard.
Nietes wants to control but Hawkins is keeping busy.
Hawkins wants to free his trapped foot but Nietes is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Hawkins trying to control from Nietes's half guard. Nietes has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Hawkins working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hawkins has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Nietes is proving hard to escape from.
Hawkins controls from within his opponent's guard.
Nietes wants to sweep but no luck.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hawkins trying to control but Nietes is working from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nietes gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Hawkins counters with a nice double leg into side control. Nietes won't be happy with that.

Hawkins looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Nietes parries the strikes from Hawkins easily there. Hawkins is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Nietes to escape.
Hawkins tries to move to mount but Nietes blocks the move with his legs.
Hawkins tries to score with some ground and pound. Nietes controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hawkins tries to advance to mount but Nietes denies him.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Nietes manages to get back to half guard.
Nietes wants to improve his position but Hawkins is controlling well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hawkins shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Nietes is pressing down on Hawkins's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hawkins throws a sloppy strike and Nietes has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Hawkins is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Nietes!
