Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jorge Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Puto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jorge Alves had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.7lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Thiago Puto has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puto shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alves pinned against the cage. Alves gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Puto keeps the fight on the outside.

Alves bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Puto struggling a bit here.
Puto tries to buck Alves off but Alves is having none of it.

Alves tries for a kimura but Puto is defending well.
Puto is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Alves has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Puto!

Alves is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Puto has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Puto!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alves looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Puto wants to control from the top but Alves keeps moving.

Alves looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Alves is breathing heavily.

Alves has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Puto can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Puto scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Puto pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Alves is keeping the position for now.
Alves preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Alves had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Puto is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Alves Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Puto's back instead.
Puto rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Alves looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Puto tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Alves is looking to pass Puto's guard but actually Puto recovers to full guard.

Puto is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Alves postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Puto is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Alves, into his guard.
Puto lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Puto controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Alves is looking for a triangle but Puto pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Puto won't allow Alves to sweep him here.

Puto is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Alves has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Puto is looking to defend but Alves has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Puto! Alves pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Puto taps out and this one is all over!
