Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Great! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Shlemenko ! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shlemenko closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Great did well to prevent Shlemenko getting side control. It looks like Shlemenko is going to stand back up.
Great tries to roll over but Shlemenko keeps him under control. Great trying to control but Shlemenko postures up.
Great is looking for a sweep. Shlemenko is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Great tries to kick Shlemenko off but Shlemenko keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Great wants to improve his position but Shlemenko is controlling well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Shlemenko avoids a punch combination nicely.
Great fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Shlemenko closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Shlemenko lands in his opponent's guard. Shlemenko must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Great controls Shlemenko momentarily but Shlemenko frees himself. Shlemenko stopping the sweep attempt from Great. Shlemenko gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Great takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Great fails with the takedown and Shlemenko counters with a takedown into side control. Great is trying to get back to half guard. Great is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Shlemenko is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Great is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shlemenko gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Shlemenko shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Shlemenko stands and steps away. Great gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Shlemenko changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Great looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Shlemenko decides to stand back up. Shlemenko steps back and let's Great get back to his feet. Great gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Shlemenko counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Great throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Alexander Shlemenko dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Great darts in trying to clinch so Shlemenko counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Shlemenko stops Great from standing up. Shlemenko stands up from Great's guard - Shlemenko perhaps looking for a knockout. David Great is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Shlemenko shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Great is trying to defend but Shlemenko finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Great tries to kick Shlemenko off but Shlemenko keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shlemenko postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Great to stand up. Great swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Shlemenko counters by clinching up. Shlemenko stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Great tries to score a body lock takedown but Shlemenko shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Great being controlled against the cage. Great has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Great tries to pull guard but Shlemenko won't allow it.

Great looking to sit in guard and control but Shlemenko gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Shlemenko decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Great gets caught flat footed, as Shlemenko shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Great wants to sweep here but Shlemenko controlling him for the moment. Shlemenko gets to his feet. Great looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Shlemenko changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Great looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Great tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Shlemenko wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Great is working hard here to advance position. Shlemenko has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Great fails with the takedown and Shlemenko counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Great's guard now. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Great. That's going to take a lot out of him. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Shlemenko prevents Great from getting back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alexander Shlemenko showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Shlemenko is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Shlemenko decides to stand up. Shlemenko tries to bum rush Great with a series of wild strikes but Great uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Great closes the distance but Shlemenko moves to the side and Shlemenko decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Great's guard. Great is trying to hold Shlemenko in close to prevent damage but Shlemenko has managed to pass into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Great with a lazy takedown attempt and Shlemenko counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Shlemenko . Great is trying to keep Shlemenko in close.

And that's the end of the fight! Alexander Shlemenko comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Shlemenko has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
