Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Romeo Platinov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Metz! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Tarja Halkonen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Platinov just misses with a punch to the body.
A jab from Platinov does it's job there. Metz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Platinov but Platinov pushes him off and we're back to square one. Metz tries to move into range but Platinov moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
It looks like David Metz has been cut. Metz looks to land a combination. Platinov sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nice defenses there by Metz. Platinov pushes Metz up against the cage in a clinch. Platinov manages to break the clinch.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Metz has eaten all the pies! Platinov doesn't manage to clinch there - Metz circles away.
A jab from Platinov misses. Metz shoots in for a takedown but Platinov shows good takedown defense. Metz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Metz wants it to stay on the feet. Platinov tries to close the distance and clinch but Metz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Platinov tests Metz's chin there with a solid looking shot. Metz avoids a punch combination nicely.

It looks like Romeo Platinov has been cut. Platinov is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Platinov fails with the takedown and Metz decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Platinov's guard. Platinov is working an open guard so Metz takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Platinov catches Metz with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Platinov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Metz paws at him with a jab and circles away. Metz tries to clinch up but Platinov circles away and keeps his distance. Platinov lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. This has been an exciting period of action! Platinov jabbing away but nothing is landing. Platinov has managed to clinch.
Platinov jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Metz walks away with a smile on his face. Platinov gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Romeo Platinov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Metz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Metz showed some decent athleticism there. Platinov gets full guard. Platinov is breathing heavily. Platinov not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Platinov wants to sweep here but Metz controlling him for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Platinov had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Metz defends it easily. Metz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Platinov lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Metz! Metz throwing hammer fists to the chest of Platinov. What's that going to do exactly? Platinov working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Metz defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Platinov. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Metz is wriggling around trying to escape.
Platinov looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Platinov working for a guillotine from mount but Metz is in no mood to give up. Metz is controlling an arm, preventing Platinov from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Metz regains half guard. Platinov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Metz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Metz looking for submissions off his back. Metz looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Platinov is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Metz is defending against the submission attempts here by Platinov.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Metz moves into full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Metz can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Platinov controls the pace. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Romeo Platinov dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Metz stuffs the takedown. Metz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Metz lands in his opponent's guard. Platinov looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Metz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Platinov will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Platinov controls Metz momentarily but Metz frees himself. Metz has gone for a leg lock! Platinov slips out almost immediately though and dives into Metz's guard. Metz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Metz is breathing heavily. Platinov stands and steps away. Metz gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Platinov was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Platinov can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Metz is looking to escape. Metz wants to control but Platinov is having none of it. Platinov jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Metz manages to avoid the submission attempt. Platinov moves into full mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Platinov stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Platinov pushes Metz up against the cage in a clinch. Platinov manages to break the clinch.
Metz wants to clinch. Platinov ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. The fighters circling - Platinov throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Platinov moves into the clinch. Platinov escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Platinov looks to score with a jab to the body but Metz is just out of range. Jab by Platinov. Platinov is looking to clinch. Platinov is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Platinov is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Metz.

and Metz counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Metz. Metz lying in Platinov's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Platinov decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Metz taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
