Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mateus Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Fierro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mateus Allen has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mateus Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Luis Fierro!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fierro shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Allen sprawls well. Allen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fierro gets slowly back to his feet.

Allen closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fierro did well to prevent Allen getting side control.
Allen is controlling the pace.
Allen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Allen content to control rather than advance.
Allen takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Allen is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Allen prevents Fierro from improving his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Allen lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Allen winds up and cracks Fierro with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Fierro tries to get to full guard but Allen has control of the leg.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Allen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Allen connects with a nice short shot to Fierro's temple.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Allen is nestled in close to Fierro, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Allen lands a nice short elbow.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Fierro is looking to clinch.

Allen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Fierro utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Fierro keeping moving, preventing Allen from controlling successfully.
Allen won't allow Fierro to sweep him here.
Allen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fierro works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Fierro escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Allen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Allen lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Allen throws a big right hand that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fierro avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Allen shoots in for a double leg but Fierro sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Allen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Allen postures up in Fierro's guard and throws a big left but Fierro blocks it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fierro is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Allen is controlling him.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Allen's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Fierro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Allen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Allen postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Allen controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Allen slaps away a takedown attempt from Fierro, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Allen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fierro was covering up waiting for the punch and Allen finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Allen is working Fierro over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Mateus Allen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Allen seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Fierro stuffs the takedown attempt from Allen. Allen gets slowly back to his feet.
Mateus Allen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fierro tries to close the distance and clinch but Allen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Fierro closes the distance and clinches up with Allen, looking for a takedown. Fierro pushes Allen against the cage but Allen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Fierro will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Horrible takedown by Fierro or perhaps it was just good defense by Allen which made him look bad.
Mateus Allen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luis Fierro.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fierro is on top in guard.
Fierro is looking to stand up but Allen won't let him.

Fierro must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Allen's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Luis Fierro has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mateus Allen.
Fierro closes this distance looking for a takedown but Allen circles away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mateus Allen showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Allen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
