Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jun Fan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Skip Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jun Fan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Skip Stevens! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Stevens as Fan shoots in. Stevens misses with a takedown attempt and Fan moves into the clinch. Stevens fails to pull guard.
Stevens gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Fan.
Fan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Fan fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jun Fan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Stevens throws a left and a right that both miss

Stevens pushes Fan against the cage but Fan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Stevens misses with a looping left. Fan takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Fan wants to stand but Stevens is controlling the position. Stevens wants to control from the top but Fan keeps moving. Stevens postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fan has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Stevens off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Fan clinches up against the cage. Fan leaning against his opponent.
Stevens is looking to control Fan's arms but Fan gets an underhook and turns him. Now Stevens has his back to the cage. Fan breaks the clinch.

Stevens tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Stevens tries for a takedown but Fan circles away easily and Fan counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Fan. Stevens tries a body shot but Fan blocks it.

Fan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Stevens is aware though and is defending well. Fan working for a triangle but Stevens defends it easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fan is on top in guard.

Fan gets a clinch. Stevens is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Fan lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Fan stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Fan lands an elbow just above Stevens 's eye. Fan is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Stevens gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Fan landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Fan has control of Stevens's left arm, preventing Stevens from doing any damage. Stevens trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Fan trying to keep a closed guard but Stevens is proving a slippery customer.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Fan turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Fan trying to control the action but Stevens is working from the bottom. Stevens is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Fan's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Stevens is looking for a sweep. Fan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Jun Fan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Skip Stevens. Stevens stuffs the takedown attempt from Fan. Fan gets slowly back to his feet. Fan leaves Stevens with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Fan moves into range and clinches up with Stevens. Fan drags the fight down to the ground.

Fan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Fan wants to sweep here but Stevens controlling him for the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Stevens closes the distance and clinches up with Fan, looking for a takedown. He's got his arms around Stevens's waist but Stevens gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fan off to one side. Stevens punishes Fan's body with a nice straight punch. Fan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Stevens scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Fan doesn't seem bothered though. Stevens lands with an overhand left. Stevens misses with a double jab.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stevens defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Fan. Stevens lands a really nice looking cross but Fan seems unphased.

Fan has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Stevens uses from the top position. Skip Stevens has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jun Fan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Fan avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
