Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jonathan Richer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dolph Lundgren! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lundgren avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Richer instigates a clinch. A bit of stalling here from Lundgren.
Lundgren can't get the takedown.
Richer wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lundgren has him pressed against the cage. Lundgren has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Richer is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Richer is looking to control Lundgren's arms but Lundgren gets an underhook and turns him. Now Richer has his back to the cage. Lundgren pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Richer throws a series of punches but Lundgren moves out of range. Richer looks to land a left hand but Lundgren moved out of range nicely. Lundgren throws a series of punches but Richer moves out of range. Richer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Richer fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Richer misses with a wild combination.
Lundgren fails with the takedown. Jonathan Richer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dolph Lundgren. A left lands for Richer. Richer misses with a few strikes there.
Lundgren tries to grapple but his opponent circles letting Richer counter with a right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Richer lands a jab-cross combination. Richer misses with a double jab.
Richer tries to clinch but Lundgren is having none of it. Richer gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Lundgren blocking some punches.
Richer lands with a right to the head. Lundgren breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Richer lands a nice shot that snaps Lundgren's head back.
Lundgren showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Richer.
Richer stalks Lundgren and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lundgren's face. Lundgren staggers backwards, shaken. Richer moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Lundgren tries for a takedown but Richer circles away easily and Richer counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Richer lands a glancing blow to the side of Lundgren's head. Richer drops Lundgren with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Lundgren! Richer dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:05 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jonathan Richer!
