Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Peter John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Leonard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leonard has chosen Star Fucking Hipsters - 3000 Miles Away as his entrance music. Peter John has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Peter John! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brian Leonard! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! John throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Brian Leonard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Leonard throws the kick towards the body but John avoids it. John gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. John manages to pull guard.
Leonard looking to pass the guard. John pushes Leonard off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. John closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Leonard to the mat! Leonard manages to get full guard. Leonard working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from John. Leonard looking to hit a scissor sweep but John is one step ahead there. Leonard bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in John's guard. Leonard wants to control from the top but John keeps moving. Leonard stops John from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round. John has his feet on Leonard's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. John blocks the body kick.
Leonard should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. John rushes Leonard and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. John tries for a takedown but Leonard manages to get underhooks.

That's two minutes gone in the round. John is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Leonard pulls him back up using the underhooks. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Peter John. That's going to take a lot out of him. Leonard wants to break free but John has control.
John pulls guard. John will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Leonard wants to stand but John is controlling his posture from full guard. He pushes Leonard off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Leonard does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. John rushes Leonard and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Leonard wants to break the clinch but can't.

Leonard tried to score with a low kick but John checks it. Leonard with a poor takedown and John holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Leonard looks gassed! John dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Leonard using the Thai plumb to throw knees but John has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from John. John goes for a takedown attempt but Leonard pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Nice uppercut lands for John. That snapped Leonard's head back.
John moves out of range of the leg kick from Leonard. Leonard gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
It looks like Brian Leonard has been cut. Leonard thows a leg kick but John checks it and John counters by moving into the clinch. John looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Leonard breaks from the clinch.
John closes the distance and pushes Leonard back into the cage. John is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. John wants the takedown. Leonard is fighting it off but John persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Leonard's guard against the cage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. John connects with a couple of short punches. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Leonard keeping moving, preventing John from controlling successfully. Leonard manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. John manages to get himself to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

John is in the full mount, landing strikes. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, John cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Leonard is in a horrible position here. John smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. John thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Leonard's head. Leonard wants to improve his position but John is controlling well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. John makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Leonard prevents John from breaking the clinch. John ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. John no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Leonard advances position into side control! Leonard wants to stand but John is controlling his arm. Leonard wants to control but John is keeping him busy. John wants to get back to his feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. John checks the leg kick nicely there.
Leonard tries to score a power double leg takedown but John sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Leonard somewhat. John moves into the clinch. John is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Leonard wants to break the clinch but can't.

Brian Leonard has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Peter John is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. John is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. John drives through with a takedown into guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Peter John showed his dominance in that final round. Well John has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
