PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gray Potter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Swagger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Potter comes to the cage accompanied by Biggie Smalls - Victory. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gray Potter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Swagger!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swagger misses with an uppercut. Potter saw that one coming.
Potter gets cracked there but stands up to it.


It looks like Gray Potter has been cut.
Swagger throws a body punch but Potter moves out of range.
Swagger takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Potter ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Bob Swagger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Swagger lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Swagger misses with a hook.
Left hook, right uppercut from Potter.
Swagger fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Potter manages to avoid it.
Potter moves away from the strike by Swagger.
Potter moves out of range of the strikes.
Potter uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Swagger.
Potter with a hook.
Potter misses with the combination.
Swagger misses with a combination
and Potter counters with a stiff right hand.
Nice defenses there by Potter.
Swagger shoots and misses
and Potter counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Potter on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Potter throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Swagger.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A shot to the body from Swagger misses
and Potter counters with a one-two to the body.
Swagger looks gassed!
Potter scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!


It looks like Bob Swagger has been cut.
Swagger takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Potter throws a nice looking combination but Swagger bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Potter drops Swagger with a right and a left! Potter comes rushing in but Swagger regains his composure and manages to keep Potter in guard.


Swagger is rocked!

Swagger is still in real trouble! Can Potter finish him?
Potter landing some decent shots from guard.
Swagger seems to have recovered his senses.
Potter working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Potter with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Potter looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Potter is in close to Swagger's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Potter with a flurry of punches that miss.
Swagger utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Swagger keeping moving, preventing Potter from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Potter advances position into side control!
Potter works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Potter in side control, throwing shots but Swagger defends.
Potter throws a strike aimed at the side of Swagger's head but Swagger avoids it well.
Potter cracks Swagger with a big elbow.
Potter working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Swagger really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Potter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Potter sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Swagger is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Swagger parries the strikes from Potter easily there. Potter is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Swagger to escape.
Swagger wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Potter throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Potter is chipping away with strikes.
Potter landing a few strikes.
Potter tries to advance to mount but can't.
Potter throwing strikes but missing, from side control.

Swagger is being controlled here.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Swagger can do anything to dispel that myth.
Potter scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Swagger to see if he's OK.
The strikes coming from Potter are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Potter working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Swagger defending against the ground and pound.
Potter connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Swagger some visible discomfort.
Potter gets to mount! Swagger was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Potter pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The referee warns Swagger that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Potter unloading with bombs!
Swagger tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Potter lands a big shot there that rocks Swagger but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Potter is in full mount looking to finish with strikes. He lands a big shot, followed by another and Swagger goes limp! The ref jumps in to end the fight - a big win for Potter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Gray Potter!
