Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Sims (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Capelli King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Capelli King told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Sims! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Capelli King! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sims thuds his right hand into King's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. King displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sims throws out the jab. Nice shot by King.
It looks like Mark Sims has been cut. King throws a right and a left that both miss. King takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
King defending well as Sims loads up on a big left hand. King takes a shot right to the bread basket. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! King ducks under a wild hook from Sims. Sims throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A slow jab from Sims misses its intended target. Sims looks to throw the jab but King is out of range. King throws out a loose jab but Sims uses good head movement to avoid it. Sims uses good head movement to avoid the hook from King. King keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Sims. Sims moves out of range of the strikes. Sims throws a shot from downtown. King moves away and avoids it. Sims changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. King looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Sims in side control lands a decent elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sims has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Sims throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sims thuds a left hand into King's body. A jab lands there for Sims. Sims fails to land with a series of punches.
King stuffs the takedown. Mark Sims seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. King throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sims stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. King digs a good body shot into Sims's ribs. Sims uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from King. King throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sims sees it coming and avoids it easily. Sims closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The ground and pound from Sims seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sims wants to control but King is keeping him busy. King tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sims wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sims creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sims throws an elbow but King slips to the side and avoids it well. King sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. King blocking the ground and pound attempt from Sims. King wants to control but Sims is keeping busy.
Sims working over King with some ground and pound. King looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. King trying to control from the bottom.
King is looking to improve his position.
King looks gassed! Nice strikes from Sims there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ground and pound from Sims. King tries to get to full guard but Sims has control of the leg. Sims looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks King with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Sims working King over with strikes. King manages to get to full guard.
King lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sims! King can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sims is looking to escape. Sims wants to hold on but King pushes him away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. King sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! King blocks Sims's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Sims tries to lock up and control but King gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. King is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Sims can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sims stops King from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Sims dominated that round. The cut man is working on Mark Sims's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
King avoids a lazy jab quite easily. King moves into the clinch. Sims wants a takedown but no success here.

Sims is working for takedown but King is calmly controlling the position for now. King tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

King using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Sims has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Sims has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. King avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Sims. That's going to take a lot out of him. King throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Sims blocks it with crossed arms. Sims has picked King up - he's going for a ride! Sims dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. King is breathing heavily. Sims decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. King cracks the inside of Sims's front leg. King tries to clinch up. King displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sims throws out the jab. Sims needs to keep his hands up - King had a free shot at his head there. Sims falls off balance throwing a combination
and Sims takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. King just misses with a punch to the body.
Sims rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but King moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Capelli King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Sims missing with a left hand there. King was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Thud! ouch! good body kick from King - that will leave a mark!
Sims misses the shot to the body. Left hook, right uppercut from Sims. Sims with a jab. Sims throws a hook but King avoids it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sims shoots in for a takedown but King shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Sims slips under a jab. Sims throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Sims shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Sims was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! King is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Sims looking to finish King with some ground and pound. This is bad for King! King is trying to escape the mount.
King in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sims with a couple of short strikes. Sims landing shots from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sims lands with some strikes. Sims controlling the position easily from mount. Sims landing strikes from the mount. Sims lands a heavy elbow. Sims punishing his opponent with strikes. Sims punishing his opponent with strikes. Sims with a couple of short strikes.
King is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! King wants to hold on but Sims pushes him away. King is still in real trouble! Can Sims finish him? Sims connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Sims prevents King from getting the reversal. Sims working away from the top, dropping strikes. King tries to get back to half guard but can't. King takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Sims's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
