PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alez Calypse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vince Topper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Calypse comes into the arena with Prodigy - Spitfire blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calypse tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Calypse tries to clinch there but Topper circles away.
Topper closes the distance and clinches up with Calypse, looking for a takedown. Topper pushes Calypse against the cage but Calypse circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Calypse fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Topper, pushing him back against the cage.

Calypse gets control of Topper's arms and successfully pulls guard. Calypse will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Topper got a little sloppy there for a moment and Calypse has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Topper has managed to get both his arms back between Calypse's legs - danger averted.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Calypse is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Topper is aware though and is defending well.
Topper throws a big right hand that misses.

Calypse looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Calypse utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Topper gets to his feet - Calypse follows without any prompting.
Topper circles away from the clinch attempt.
Calypse tries to clinch up.
Topper is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Topper.

Calypse sneaks back into half guard.
Topper throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Topper is working for a submission of some sort.

Topper is trying to work for a kimura but Calypse is defending well.
Calypse is holding on to half guard well.
Calypse is looking to improve his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Calypse is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Topper pulls his head out easily.
Topper looks gassed!
Calypse keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Topper is thwarting Calypse's attempts to control the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Calypse throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Topper stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Calypse tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Topper counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Calypse!
Calypse can't escape the position.
Calypse slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Calypse looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Calypse trying to control but Topper postures up.
Calypse is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Topper's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Topper's back!
Calypse has Topper flattened out and is raining down punches.

Calypse is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Topper has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Calypse has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Topper taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Calypse doesn't care though - he's delighted!
