Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yuri Silver! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Renato Barral! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barral fails with a takedown attempt. Silver shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barral but Barral pushes him off and we're back to square one. Barral shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Silver is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Barral thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Barral drops back looking for a leg! Silver is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Silver manages to kick Barral off! Barral jumps back into Silver's guard. Barral looks gassed! Barral postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Silver is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Barral, into his guard. Barral looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silver passes into half guard. Silver knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barral on the ground. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Silver connects with a nice short shot to Barral's temple. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barral makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Barral. Silver with a flurry of punches that miss. Silver tries to free his leg and advance position but Barral is retaining full guard. Silver throwing strikes but missing. Barral is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Silver is aware though and is defending well. Barral keeping moving, preventing Silver from controlling successfully. Barral had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Silver defends it easily. Silver stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Barral swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Silver trying to control but Barral is working from the bottom.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Barral misses with a takedown attempt and Silver counters with a one-two to the body. Barral has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Silver finds it's way round the side to connect with Barral's head. Silver forces Barral back against the cage and clinches. Silver has Barral pressed against the cage, preventing Barral from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Silver pulls Barral into guard.
Silver tries to land a sweep but no joy. Silver is adopting a defensive guard. Silver will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Barral advances position into side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silver can't do much from the bottom here. Silver wants to get back to his feet. Barral has hold of Silver's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Silver seems comfortable defending it but Barral has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Silver is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Silver is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Barral couldn't care less - he's delighted!
