Kendall kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Kool Moe Dee - I Go To Work. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurt Kendall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Taker!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Lou da Vinci and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kendall shoots in for a takedown but Taker shows good takedown defense.

Kendall drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Kendall drops back looking for a leg! Taker is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Taker manages to kick Kendall off! Kendall jumps back into Taker's guard.

Kendall drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kendall jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Kendall thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Taker not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Taker has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kendall can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Taker manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Taker is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kendall is surviving well by controlling Taker's body position as best he can.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Taker cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Taker has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Taker is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kendall can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Kendall tries to reverse the position but Taker maintains control.

Taker is working for a guillotine from mount but Kendall frees his head quite easily.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Taker lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Kendall tries to reverse the position but Taker maintains control.
Kendall is squirming around, avoiding Taker's attempts to control the action.

Taker with a couple of short strikes.

Kendall bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Taker is on top in guard.
Taker postures up and lands a big shot to Kendall's brow.

Kendall is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Taker frees his head nicely. Oh but Kendall has switched to an armbar! Taker is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
