Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andy Giles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ferdynand Kiepski!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Bruno Hogan and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Giles looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kiepski looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Giles changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kiepski looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Giles scores with punches from side control.
Giles working the head and body with strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Giles works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kiepski is trying to control Giles's posture but Giles avoids it.
Giles lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Giles scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Kiepski to see if he's OK.

Giles is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kiepski knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Kiepski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Giles. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kiepski is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Giles connects with a nice short shot to Kiepski's temple.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Giles winds up and cracks Kiepski with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Kiepski flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Giles fails with a takedown attempt.
Kiepski wants to clinch.

Giles drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Giles is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Giles chips away with some ground and pound.
Kiepski utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Giles accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Kiepski is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Giles stands up over Kiepski, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Kiepski working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Giles doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Giles manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Giles makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kiepski escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Giles gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Kiepski is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Giles throwing strikes but missing.

Kiepski looking for a guillotine here but Giles defends easily.
Giles landing some decent shots from guard.
Kiepski is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Giles is controlling him.
Kiepski looking to hit a scissor sweep but Giles is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andy Giles dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Giles changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kiepski tries to avoid it but Giles manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kiepski to the ground. Kiepski escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Giles closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kiepski did well to prevent Giles getting side control.
Kiepski regains full guard. Nicely done.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Giles's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Kiepski has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Giles can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Giles postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Giles is in close to Kiepski's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Giles is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Kiepski has momentary wrist control but Giles slips an elbow through the middle.

Kiepski is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Giles has his hands clasped together but Kiepski extends an breaks Giles's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Kiepski.
