The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeSimone shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Joseph sprawls well. Joseph wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. DeSimone gets slowly back to his feet.
Joseph misses with a double jab.
Joseph takes a swing at DeSimone's ribcage but misses.
DeSimone takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
No luck with that takedown attempt from DeSimone.
Joseph gets in close and instigates a clinch.
DeSimone takes a knee to the side of the body.
DeSimone looks gassed!
DeSimone avoids a wild elbow strike from Joseph.
Joseph has DeSimone pushed against the ropes.
Joseph breaks the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
DeSimone shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
DeSimone thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Joseph's head.
DeSimone has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Joseph is looking to control DeSimone's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Joseph avoid being mounted?
Joseph tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Joseph makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Joseph.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Joseph misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Joseph fakes high and swings low for a body shot but DeSimone manages to avoid it.
Joseph rushes DeSimone and presses him up against the ropes.
Joseph manages to break the clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from DeSimone is defended easily by Joseph.
Mitchell Joseph has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eric DeSimone.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from DeSimone.
Joseph throws a leg kick which misses DeSimone's front leg but catches the back leg as DeSimone tries to avoid it.
Joseph lands a left and a right that send DeSimone crashing to the mat, dazed. Joseph thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
It looks like Eric DeSimone has been cut.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Joseph pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
DeSimone takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Joseph swings for the body but DeSimone moves out of range.
DeSimone walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
DeSimone avoids a punch combination nicely.
Joseph decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Joseph stops DeSimone from getting back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
DeSimone is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Joseph decides to stand up.
DeSimone doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Joseph counters with a huge head kick that drops DeSimone! The ref dives in to stop the fight and the crowd goes wild!
