Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brock Lesnar is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brock Lesnar! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lesnar scores with a takedown into Smith's guard. Lesnar trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lesnar tries to stand but Smith is controlling from the bottom. Lesnar must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Smith trying to control the position here. Lesnar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Smith trying to control the position.
Lesnar seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Lesnar postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lesnar is one step ahead there. Lesnar postures up.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Smith scoring well with a low kick there.
Smith throws a right and a left that Lesnar avoids nicely. Lesnar is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Lesnar looks gassed! Lesnar doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
A low kick from Lesnar is predictable there and Smith counters with a nice kick to the body. Smith fails with the takedown and Lesnar counters with a takedown into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith pushes Lesnar away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Lesnar gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Smith is looking to reverse the position. Smith manages to work his way to half guard, despite Lesnar's best efforts. Smith makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! The fight stays on the outside here - Smith looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Smith lets loose with a powerful body kick. Lesnar will feel that in the morning. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Smith looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Lesnar! Smith controlling his opponent. Smith lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith moves to take his opponent's back. Smith could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Lesnar is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Smith gets his way!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith. No joy there for Lesnar, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Lesnar is looking to stand up but Smith won't let him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Smith looks to clinch and Lesnar counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Lesnar seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Smith does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Smith is trying to maintain the position but Lesnar is very close to passing his half guard. Smith is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Lesnar is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. The fighters are battling for position here. Smith manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Smith wants to get back to his feet but Lesnar is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Lesnar won't allow Smith to sweep him here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lesnar paws at him with a jab and circles away. Smith scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lesnar keeps the fight on the outside. A low kick from Lesnar is predictable there and Smith counters with a nice double leg into guard. Smith with a flurry of punches that miss. Smith drops back looking for a leg! Lesnar is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lesnar manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Lesnar's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith preventing the sweep. Smith might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Smith trying to control but Lesnar is working from the bottom. Lesnar wants to hit a switch here but Smith passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Lesnar there! Smith looking to control but Lesnar is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Brock Lesnar will probably get the nod - 10:9. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

John Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Smith looking for a sweep. Not yet Smith, not yet. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smith is on top in guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Smith sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lesnar's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lesnar can do anything to dispel that myth. Smith moves into full mount! Lesnar won't be happy about that! Smith trying to control but he's not successful this time. Smith punishing his opponent with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Smith connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Smith stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Smith fails with the takedown and Lesnar decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Smith's guard. That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Smith landing shots from mount. Lesnar is squirming around, avoiding Smith's attempts to control the action. Smith working the ground and pound effectively.
A nice elbow there by Smith. Smith controlling his opponent. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Smith cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Smith. Well Smith has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
