Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jamal Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hunter Bower (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Hunter Bower was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jamal Paul! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hunter Bower! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Bower. Bower looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Paul lands a nice shot that snaps Bower's head back.
Bower instigates a clinch. Paul tries for a takedown. No joy.
Paul wants to break free but Bower has control.
Paul lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Bower is trying to break the clinch but Paul has him pressed against the cage. Paul avoiding damage.
Paul turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Paul manages to end up in side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Paul working the ground and pound. Paul working the head and body with strikes. Paul tries for a kimura but Bower is defending well. Paul controlling the position from side mount. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bower can do anything to dispel that myth. Paul moves into full mount! Paul controlling the pace for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paul landing strikes from the mount. Paul controlling the position easily from mount. Bower tries to reverse the position but Paul maintains control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Paul sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Bower can't escape the position.
Paul with the ground and pound from mount. Paul takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Paul landing punches. Paul working the ground and pound effectively.
Paul controlling the pace for now. Paul with shots to the head and body - Bower looks very uncomfortable down there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paul landing strikes from the mount. Paul jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Bower manages to avoid the submission attempt. Bower can't do much from the bottom here. Paul is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Paul tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Bower is looking to reverse the position. Bower misses with a strike from the bottom. Bower is not content to let Paul control the position. Paul takes a little break here. Bower wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Jamal Paul just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Bower moves in looking to clinch but Paul pushes him off. Bower shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Paul's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Paul duly obliges. Paul will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Paul pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bower rushes Paul and presses him up against the cage. Paul wants to get back to striking at distance but Bower won't allow it.
Bower drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Paul gets the underhooks and prevents it.

A head punch on the inside from Bower fails to land. Paul manages to break the clinch.
Bower walks into a stiff left hand from Paul. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Paul drives through with a takedown into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jamal Paul dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Paul throws a sloppy head kick and Bower counters with a three punch combo that has Paul backing up. Paul nods at Bower to acknowledge the strikes. Paul closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Paul tries to stand but can't do so whilst Bower controls his leg. Paul is working for a kimura but Bower is defending it quite comfortably.
Bower wants to control but Paul is keeping busy and won't allow it. Paul decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Paul scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Paul not doing much here.
Bower wants to improve his position but Paul is controlling well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Paul stalling. Jamal Paul overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paul has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Bower on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Paul blocks the strikes from Bower.
Nice strikes from Paul there. Paul scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Bower wants to control but Paul is keeping busy and won't allow it. Paul controlling the action here. Bower is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Paul trying to control the action but Bower is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Paul shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bower as he avoids it easily. Paul misses with a head kick.
Bower feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Paul wants to stand but Bower is controlling the position. Bower must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Bower loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Bower trying to control the position from guard on top but Paul is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Paul wants to stand and escape but Bower is having none of it. Paul is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Bower prevents Paul from getting back to his feet. Bower won't allow Paul to sweep him here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Paul misses with a series of wild punches.
Paul throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bower's waist but Bower gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Paul off to one side. Paul shoots and misses and Bower counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamal Paul. That's going to take a lot out of him. Paul stuffs the takedown attempt from Bower. Bower gets slowly back to his feet. Paul scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Paul tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bower swats him away and circles back towards the center. Paul takes the fight into the clinch. Bower keeps control of Paul as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Paul can't break the clinch.

Paul tries to pull guard but Bower holds him up against the cage and eventually Paul drops back down to his feet.

Jamal Paul dominated that second round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Paul lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Paul is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Bower avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Paul closes the distance and clinches up with Bower, looking for a takedown. Paul pushes Bower against the cage but Bower circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Bower on the wrong end of a nice jab. Paul drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Bower can't keep his opponent in guard - Paul advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Paul is controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bower manages to get to full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Paul pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bower is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bower looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Paul trying to control but Bower is working from the bottom. Bower striking off his back but it's not causing Paul any problems. Bower keeping moving, preventing Paul from controlling successfully. Bower wants to sweep but no luck. Paul wants to pass the guard but Bower is keeping the position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Paul throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bower. A head kick lands from Paul that sends Bower to the canvas. Bower tries to scramble back to his feet but Paul brings him back down into side control.
Bower is rocked! Bower is looking to regain half guard here but Paul keeps moving and retains side control. Bower is still in real trouble! Can Paul finish him? Paul taking a breather here. Bower seems to have recovered his senses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bower is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Paul is one step ahead and moves to full mount! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Paul cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Bower takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Paul lands a big elbow. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Paul controlling his opponent. Bower tries to get back to half guard but can't. Paul takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Paul gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamal Paul. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bower tries to clinch but Paul is having none of it. Paul tries to close the distance and clinch but Bower swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Paul tries for a takedown but Bower circles away easily and Bower counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Still in half guard, Bower seems content to control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Paul gets back to full guard.

And that's the end of the fight! Jamal Paul showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Paul, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
