The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perez shoots in and drives through. McPenos sprawls well.
Perez tries to close the distance and clinch but McPenos swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Perez tries a head kick but it misses.
McPenos displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Perez.
Perez is looking to land body kicks.
Perez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McPenos is fending him off so far but Perez persists. Nope, McPenos circles away and we're back to standing.

The referee is keeping an eye on McPenos - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Perez jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McPenos walks away with a smile on his face. Perez gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
