Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Abraham Lincoln (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Obrien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lincoln comes into the arena with Hail To The Chief blaring out of the sound system. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Abraham Lincoln!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Obrien!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Obrien.
Obrien shoots in but Lincoln avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Lincoln swats away the attempt to clinch by Obrien.
Lincoln swings for the body but Obrien moves out of range.
Obrien misses with a jab to the body
and Lincoln counters with a nice uppercut.
Lincoln lands with a good body shot.
Mike Obrien seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Obrien tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Lincoln counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Obrien looks gassed!
A lazy left from Lincoln finds it's target.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lincoln bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Obrien's head.
Obrien on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Lincoln changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Lincoln digs a good body shot into Obrien's ribs.

Lincoln's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Abraham Lincoln just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Lincoln swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Obrien.

Lincoln shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Obrien napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Lincoln is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Obrien will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Obrien is looking to regain half guard here but Lincoln keeps moving and retains side control.

Lincoln uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Lincoln wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Lincoln changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Obrien looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Obrien can do anything to dispel that myth.

Lincoln takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Lincoln seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Obrien for as long as he can get away with.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Abraham Lincoln.
Lincoln throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Obrien stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Obrien is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Lincoln.
Obrien tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lincoln paws at him with a jab and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Lincoln counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Mike Obrien is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nice straight punches there by Lincoln. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Lincoln.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Lincoln lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Obrien circles away quickly and effectively.
Obrien takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Lincoln shoots in and bounces Obrien off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Lincoln is pushing down on Obrien's leg trying to pass to half guard. Obrien is fighting to maintain full guard but Lincoln has managed to sneak the leg through.

Lincoln is taking a breather. Obrien says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Obrien wants to control but Lincoln is keeping busy.
Obrien wants to improve his position but Lincoln is controlling well.

Mike Obrien has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Abraham Lincoln is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Obrien is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lincoln pulls his head out easily.

Well Lincoln has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
