PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Drabek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fox Micthell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Drabek kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Imagine. Fox Micthell has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jeff Drabek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fox Micthell!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, David Schapiro and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Micthell throws a nice looking combination but Drabek bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Drabek misses with an uppercut.
Micthell steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Drabek.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Micthell, as that shot connected.
Drabek keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A looping hook to the body misses from Drabek. Micthell does a little dance to reset his feet.

Micthell drops Drabek with a right and a left! Micthell comes rushing in but Drabek regains his composure and manages to keep Micthell in guard.


It looks like Jeff Drabek has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Drabek bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Micthell's guard.
Drabek passes Micthell's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Drabek throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Drabek not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Micthell regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Drabek.
Micthell manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Drabek manages to get himself to full guard.
Micthell wants to control from the top but Drabek keeps moving.

Drabek is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Drabek had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Micthell defends it easily.
Drabek has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Drabek will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Drabek lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Micthell wants to stand up but Drabek is controlling him.
Drabek stands up over Micthell, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Drabek accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Drabek is looking to work some ground and pound but Micthell has wrist control.
Micthell wants to get back to his feet but Drabek is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Drabek thows a big elbow that misses.

Micthell wants to stand but Drabek is controlling the position.
Drabek makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Micthell is trying to keep Drabek in close.
Drabek loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Drabek drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Drabek jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Micthell wants to stand and escape but Drabek is having none of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Drabek controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Drabek wants to control from the top but Micthell keeps moving.

Drabek throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Micthell works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Drabek slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Drabek makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Fox Micthell will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Jeff Drabek's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Micthell slaps away a takedown attempt from Drabek, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Nice body punch from Micthell.
Drabek changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Micthell tries to avoid it but Drabek manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Micthell to the ground. Micthell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Drabek shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Drabek was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Micthell is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

The referee warns Micthell that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Drabek wants to finish this one by submission but Micthell is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Drabek.
Micthell is trying desperately to improve position.
Micthell is breathing heavily.

Micthell wants to hold on but Drabek pushes him away.
Drabek looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Micthell is bucking up trying to escape but Drabek cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Drabek lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Micthell is in a horrible position here. Drabek smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Drabek wants to control the pace but Micthell is squirming around nicely.

Drabek has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Drabek scores with a jab. Micthell acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

and Micthell counters with a straight right hand.
Drabek throws a hook to the side of Micthell's head but Micthell sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Drabek is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Micthell can do to turn this around?

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Drabek cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Fox Micthell's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
