PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Vronsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ralph Waldo Emerson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Emerson has chosen Welcome to the TerrorDome as his entrance music. Emerson has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Vronsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ralph Waldo Emerson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vronsky misses with a double jab.
Emerson looks gassed!

Emerson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Emerson keeping moving, preventing Vronsky from controlling successfully.
Vronsky stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Emerson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vronsky is working hard here to advance position.

Vronsky throws a big right hand that misses.
Vronsky distracts Emerson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Vronsky scores with a jab. Emerson acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Vronsky lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Emerson takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
A left and a right from Vronsky both land. Nice combination.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Michael Vronsky.

Vronsky changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Emerson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Vronsky looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Emerson is avoiding damage well.
Vronsky creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Vronsky shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Vronsky trying to control the position from guard on top but Emerson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Emerson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Vronsky works to advance to full mount. Emerson defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Vronsky can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Emerson is looking to escape.

Ralph Waldo Emerson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Vronsky breaks from Emerson's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Vronsky sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Vronsky controlling the position easily from mount.
Vronsky with shots to the head and body - Emerson looks very uncomfortable down there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Vronsky lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Michael Vronsky overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Vronsky is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Emerson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Vronsky lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Vronsky postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Emerson looks a forlorn figure.

And that's the end of the fight!
Michael Vronsky showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Vronsky has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
