Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ernie Bennett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Kaner!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Bruno Lombardi and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kaner will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Bennett misses with a double jab.
Kaner looks to land a right hand but Bennett moved out of range.
Jon Kaner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bennett misses with a two punch combination.

Bennett shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Bennett looking to control and managing it successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kaner's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Kaner bucks up and throws Bennett to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Some wild striking there from Kaner.
Bennett avoids a punch combination nicely.

Kaner gets caught flat footed, as Bennett shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Kaner has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bennett can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Bennett controls from within his opponent's guard.

Bennett won't allow Kaner to get back to his feet.
Bennett stands and throws Kaner's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Bennett controls the position.
Kaner is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Kaner is trying to stand.
Bennett slows the pace down in half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ernie Bennett.
Kaner throws out a powerful jab.
Bennett uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kaner.
Some bone on bone action there as Bennett checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Kaner misses with a body shot.
Kaner lands with a shot to the body.
No luck for Bennett with that takedown attempt.
Kaner misses with a wild body shot.
Kaner looks to land a left hand but Bennett moved out of range nicely.

Bennett shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kaner's guard.
Kaner looks gassed!
Kaner is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bennett is controlling him.
Bennett is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Bennett passes Kaner's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Kaner looks like he's trying to stand up.
Bennett is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Kaner is in trouble now - Bennett has advanced to mount!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ernie Bennett dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bennett shoots in for a takedown but Kaner shows good takedown defense.
Bennett checks the leg kick.
Bennett scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
A punch lands to the side of Bennett 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Kaner lands a nice hook to Bennett's body. Bennett takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Kaner takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Ernie Bennett is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bennett fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kaner avoids it really well and circles away.

Bennett shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kaner napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kaner is looking for a sweep.
Bennett advances nicely into full mount.
Kaner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bennett. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kaner is breathing heavily.
Bennett controlling the pace for now.

Bennett working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Bennett tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Ernie Bennett overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Ernie Bennett just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Bennett fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ernie Bennett. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bennett shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Bennett was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Bennett seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kaner for as long as he can get away with.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bennett trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kaner really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Bennett is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Kaner is forced to tap! Great finish!
