0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kabe Waybe! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Waybe wants to slow Matarzo down by chopping away at his legs. Matarzo closes the distance and clinches. A right hook to the body lands for Matarzo.
Waybe wants to break free but Matarzo has control.
Waybe taking a breather. A short right from Matarzo on the inside. Matarzo lands a shot to the body. Waybe missing with knees to the body.
Waybe is trying to break free. Waybe has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Matarzo keeps control of Waybe as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Waybe is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. A right handed body shot lands from Matarzo.
Waybe tries to circle away but Matarzo has him pinned against the cage. Matarzo softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Waybe misses with a punch to the body.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Matarzo for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Waybe needs to keep his hands up - Matarzo had a free shot at his head there. A jab-cross combination lands for Matarzo and sends Waybe crashing to the mat! Matarzo follows him down to the mat - Waybe regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
Waybe is rocked!
It looks like Kabe Waybe has been cut. Matarzo seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Waybe is still in real trouble! Can Matarzo finish him? Waybe seems to have recovered his senses. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Matarzo is looking to advance position but Waybe won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matarzo is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Matarzo is pressing down on Waybe's thigh, looking to free his foot. Waybe is holding on for now. Matarzo tries to stand and escape but Waybe is controlling the position. Matarzo keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bruno Matarzo. Matarzo shoots for a double leg takedown but Waybe sprawls well. He's pushed Matarzo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Waybe ducks right into an uppercut from Matarzo. Matarzo fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Bruno Matarzo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Matarzo moves into range and connects with a jab. Waybe tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Matarzo counters with a straight right hand. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Matarzo is defended easily by Waybe. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Matarzo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Waybe sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Matarzo somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruno Matarzo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Matarzo connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Matarzo tries to clinch up but Waybe circles away and keeps his distance. Matarzo lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Waybe sprawling to the canvas. Matarzo follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Waybe hang on? Matarzo performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Matarzo's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bruno Matarzo dominated that round. The cut man is working on Kabe Waybe's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Waybe closes the distance looking to clinch and Matarzo counters with a left and a right that stings Waybe. Waybe wants to clinch and Matarzo counters with a one-two to the body. Matarzo shoots in for a takedown but Waybe shows good takedown defense. Waybe leaves Matarzo with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Waybe takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Matarzo is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Waybe tries to clinch but fails miserably and Matarzo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Waybe takes a shot right to the bread basket. Waybe is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matarzo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Waybe tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Matarzo counters with a straight right hand. Matarzo stalks Waybe and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Waybe's face. Waybe staggers backwards, shaken. The fight moves into the clinch position. Matarzo stalling the fight.
Waybe is looking to control Matarzo's arms but Matarzo gets an underhook and turns him. Now Waybe has his back to the cage. Matarzo avoiding damage.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Waybe is trying to force a seperation but Matarzo has the dominant position. The referee is keeping an eye on Matarzo - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Waybe wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
The referee calls for Matarzo to work.
Matarzo is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Waybe can do to turn this around? Matarzo lands a shoulder strike. Matarzo is working Waybe over against the cage. Matarzo throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Waybes head. The referee calls for Matarzo to work.
Matarzo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Matarzo dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Matarzo pushes Waybe up against the cage in a clinch. Matarzo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Matarzo lands a nice shot to the body.
Matarzo throws a left that rocks Waybe and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Matarzo dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Waybe regain composure!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Matarzo is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Matarzo stands up and beckons Waybe to his feet. Matarzo throws a series of punches but Waybe avoids them all with ease. Waybe slips a jab and a cross from Matarzo.

Waybe takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Matarzo throws a good cross that connects.
Matarzo lands with a cross. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Matarzo drops Waybe with a big left hand! Waybe is injured, injured bad! Matarzo jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!
