PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nikolaos Demetriou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hank Henry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Demetriou comes to the cage accompanied by Boom - POD. Hank Henry told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Demetriou closes the distance and clinches.

Demetriou is trying to trip Henry. He has hold of a leg but Henry is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Demetriou persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Demetriou lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Demetriou throws and elbow that misses. Henry uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Demetriou's guard. Nice move by Henry!
Demetriou has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Demetriou is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Demetriou seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Demetriou wants to free his trapped foot but Henry is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Henry is not content to let Demetriou control the position.
Demetriou is looking to pass Henry's guard but actually Henry recovers to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Henry can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Demetriou controls the pace.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
