Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Matoi Tsunetsuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Corey Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matoi Tsunetsuki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Corey Thompson! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Columbo Gatti and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thompson throws a series of punches but Tsunetsuki moves out of range. Thompson lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
It looks like Matoi Tsunetsuki has been cut. Tsunetsuki looking for a takedown here - he's got it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tsunetsuki trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Tsunetsuki postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tsunetsuki loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Thompson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Tsunetsuki sitting in guard here, content to control. Tsunetsuki throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Tsunetsuki wants to control from the top but Thompson keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thompson is looking to stand up but Tsunetsuki isn't so interested in that idea. Thompson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tsunetsuki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Thompson misses with a double jab.
Thompson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Thompson tries to keep at a distance but Tsunetsuki has taken the fight into the clinch. Tsunetsuki wants a takedown.
Thompson wants to break free but Tsunetsuki has control.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Tsunetsuki gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tsunetsuki not landing any meaningful shots this time. Tsunetsuki throwing shots but Thompson is blocking nicely. Tsunetsuki looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Tsunetsuki throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Tsunetsuki lands a nice short elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tsunetsuki lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Thompson looks gassed! Tsunetsuki keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Tsunetsuki is nestled in close to Thompson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Tsunetsuki winds up and cracks Thompson with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Tsunetsuki missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Tsunetsuki lands with a punch from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tsunetsuki throwing shots but Thompson is blocking nicely. Tsunetsuki is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Thompson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Tsunetsuki. Tsunetsuki lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Tsunetsuki trying to pass the guard but Thompson defending well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tsunetsuki working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tsunetsuki with a flurry of punches that miss. Tsunetsuki seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Tsunetsuki working some strikes from top position. Tsunetsuki throws a big right hand that misses. Tsunetsuki controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Tsunetsuki throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Thompson works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Tsunetsuki pushes down on Thompson's leg and manages to get into half guard. Tsunetsuki is looking for a kimura but Thompson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tsunetsuki to get the leverage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Tsunetsuki tries to pass the half guard into mount. Thompson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Thompson is trying to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matoi Tsunetsuki dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Matoi Tsunetsuki's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Thompson avoids the head kick by Tsunetsuki.
Tsunetsuki darts in and clinches Thompson up against the cage. Tsunetsuki tries to score a body lock takedown but Thompson shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Thompson misses with a hook to the ribs.
Tsunetsuki can't get the takedown.
Tsunetsuki changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Thompson fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matoi Tsunetsuki. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tsunetsuki gets a clinch. Tsunetsuki wants a takedown.
Thompson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Tsunetsuki drops down looking for an ankle pick but Thompson pulls his leg out and moves away.

Tsunetsuki misses with a wild body shot. Thompson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Tsunetsuki was well out of range. Poor timing from Thompson. Thompson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Tsunetsuki throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Thompson was covering up waiting for the punch and Tsunetsuki finishes the takedown easily into guard. Tsunetsuki cracks Thompson with a solid left hand. Tsunetsuki is stalling in the full guard. Matoi Tsunetsuki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tsunetsuki's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Tsunetsuki works over Thompson with some ground and pound from guard. Corey Thompson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tsunetsuki makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thompson being controlled here, momentarily. Tsunetsuki slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Tsunetsuki cracks Thompson with a big elbow. Tsunetsuki is trying to get an arm triangle but Thompson is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tsunetsuki has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Thompson! Thompson is bucking up trying to escape but Tsunetsuki cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Tsunetsuki controlling from the full mount. Tsunetsuki working the ground and pound effectively.
And that's the end of the fight! Matoi Tsunetsuki showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tsunetsuki, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
