PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brian Madukes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Handly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Handly is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Bring the Noise. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Madukes!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Charles Handly!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Madukes shoots in looking for a takedown. Handly tries to sprawl out of it but Madukes keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Handly manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Handly throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Handly drives through with a takedown into guard.

Handly is looking to work some ground and pound but Madukes has wrist control.

Handly throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Madukes's waist but Madukes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Handly off to one side.
Handly is breathing heavily.

Some bone on bone action there as Handly checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Madukes takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

and Madukes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Handly's guard.

Handly rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Madukes moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Handly has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Madukes off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
