Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Maxi Marin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Lappin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maxi Marin has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Lappin!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lappin throws a body punch but Marin moves out of range.
Lappin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Marin dodges the punch combination from Lappin.
Lappin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Marin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Marin has Lappin up against the cage in a clinch.
Marin is pushing Lappin up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Lappin has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Marin uses from the top position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Lappin ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Marin moves away.

Marin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lappin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lappin has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Marin off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

A head kick from Lappin lands but Marin takes it in his stride.

Lappin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Marin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lappin on the ground.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Marin counters with a three punch combo that has Lappin backing up. Lappin nods at Marin to acknowledge the strikes.

Lappin misses with some punches.
Marin prevents a takedown attempt there.

Marin is pressing down on Lappin's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lappin is holding on for now.

Lappin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Lappin stands up and beckons Marin to join him on the feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fight stays on the outside here - Lappin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Maxi Marin will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Lappin throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Marin counters by clinching up.
Lappin lands an elbow that stopped Marin in his tracks for a moment.
Lappin has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Marin is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Marin gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Lappin regains guard.
Lappin wants to stand but Marin is controlling the position.
Marin wants to control from the top but Lappin keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lappin scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Marin throws a head kick that misses.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lappin wants to clinch up but Marin keeps it at a distance.

Lappin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

enabling Marin to counter with a crisp jab.

Lappin drives through and clinches with Marin against the cage.

Lappin gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Marin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Lappin wants to free his trapped foot but Marin is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Marin controls Lappin momentarily but Lappin frees himself.

Lappin stands up and waves to Marin to follow him.
Marin moves out of range as Lappin strikes.
Marin stuffs the takedown.
Lappin tries to close the distance and clinch but Marin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Marin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Marin dives in and grabs Lappin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lappin pushes down on Marin's head and hops out.

Lappin is looking to clinch but Marin is avoiding it.

Marin walks into a straight right hand from Lappin.

and Marin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Maxi Marin.
I think Marin has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
