PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Grzegorz Materla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky McFunkletinkle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Materla comes to the cage accompanied by kavkaz eta sila . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Grzegorz Materla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ricky McFunkletinkle!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Andrew Berry and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Materla checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Materla decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Materla seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McFunkletinkle does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
McFunkletinkle is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McFunkletinkle trying to hold on to Materla's head to control him but Materla postures up.
McFunkletinkle is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Materla jumps into side control!
McFunkletinkle tries to bench press Materla off him but Materla keeps the position.
You can see the frustration on McFunkletinkle's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Materla is looking to take a break and control but McFunkletinkle is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Materla remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

McFunkletinkle shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Materla is looking to control McFunkletinkle's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Materla avoid being mounted?
McFunkletinkle prevents Materla from improving his position.
Materla is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute McFunkletinkle jumps into side control!
Materla trying his best to control but McFunkletinkle has mounted him.
Materla manages to control the position for a moment.
McFunkletinkle can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Materla is looking to escape.

McFunkletinkle might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Materla kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Materla is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
McFunkletinkle controlling from mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Materla wants to control but McFunkletinkle is having none of it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Materla is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Materla tries to control McFunkletinkle's body but McFunkletinkle pushes him off. Materla squirms to his side and now McFunkletinkle has his back!
McFunkletinkle lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.
Materla takes a big shot to the side of the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Materla trying to control the hands but McFunkletinkle won't let him.
McFunkletinkle struggling to land strikes to the head as Materla covers up.
Materla just trying to survive but McFunkletinkle is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Materla is breathing heavily.
Materla turns into McFunkletinkle and is now in his guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Grzegorz Materla.

McFunkletinkle feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Materla is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
McFunkletinkle pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Materla is keeping the position for now.

Materla isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. McFunkletinkle stacks Materla on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by McFunkletinkle!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ricky McFunkletinkle dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



McFunkletinkle closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
McFunkletinkle tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

McFunkletinkle breaks from the clinch.
Materla takes a kick to the side of the head.
Materla with a poor takedown

and McFunkletinkle counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
McFunkletinkle is trying to control the action in half guard but Materla is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Materla is trying to maintain the position but McFunkletinkle is very close to passing his half guard.
Materla avoiding damage under a succession of punches from McFunkletinkle.
McFunkletinkle is looking to advance position but Materla won't allow it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McFunkletinkle drops an elbow to the side of Materla's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McFunkletinkle wants to stand up but Materla has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Materla looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Materla wants to get back to full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McFunkletinkle moves in looking to clinch but Materla pushes him off.

McFunkletinkle shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than McFunkletinkle was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
McFunkletinkle content just to control the position here.
McFunkletinkle with shots to the head and body - Materla looks very uncomfortable down there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
McFunkletinkle trying to control but he's not successful this time.
McFunkletinkle avoids the attempt from Materla to control.
Materla regains half guard.

McFunkletinkle is looking for a kimura here.

Materla has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for McFunkletinkle. Oh but Materla has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! McFunkletinkle goes limp - he's gone! Materla jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
