Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rex Garris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Rex Garris has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Rex Garris seems to be OK! Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rex Garris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Thomas!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garris moves in looking to clinch but Thomas pushes him off.

Thomas closes the distance and clinches.
Garris throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Thomas blocks it with crossed arms.
Garris stops a takedown attempt from Thomas.
Thomas tries to pull guard but Garris holds him up against the cage and eventually Thomas drops back down to his feet.

Thomas pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Thomas swats away the attempt to clinch by Garris.
Thomas should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Thomas tries a head kick but it misses.
Thomas fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rex Garris has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Thomas.

Thomas scores with a takedown into Garris's guard.

Thomas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Garris has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thomas has managed to get both his arms back between Garris's legs - danger averted.
Garris tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Thomas would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Garris is trying to control the position but Thomas postures up.
Thomas postures up in Garris's guard and throws a big left but Garris blocks it.
Thomas wants to stand but Garris is controlling his posture from full guard.

Thomas gets to his feet. Garris looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Thomas closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Garris seems a little lost for a moment, as Thomas dominates the positioning.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Thomas with the ground and pound but Garris regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Garris is looking to improve his position.
Thomas is trying to control the action in half guard but Garris is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Thomas throws a strike but Garris manages to get a kimura sweep and he's found himself on top with the kimura half locked in! This would be a real turnaround! He's torquing it... Will Thomas tap??? YES! He's tapped! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Rex Garris!
