PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Gobbler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Scott Sorrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gobbler has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Scott Sorrow acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Scott Sorrow!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sorrow is defended easily by Gobbler.

Sorrow gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Sorrow manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Sorrow wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Gobbler drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sorrow pulls his leg out and moves away.
Gobbler dodges the punch combination from Sorrow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sorrow closes the distance and pushes Gobbler back into the cage.
Sorrow tries to break the clinch but Gobbler is controlling the position.
Gobbler looking for a takedown.

Sorrow can't break the clinch.
Sorrow should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Gobbler stalling against the cage.
Gobbler is breathing heavily.
Gobbler has Sorrow pressed against the cage, preventing Sorrow from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Sorrow wants to break free but Gobbler has control.

Sorrow is trying to force a seperation but Gobbler has the dominant position.
A frustrated look appears on Sorrow's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Sorrow is looking to break free of the clinch but Gobbler has double underhooks.
Sorrow is pressed up against the cage. Gobbler has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sorrow down to the mat. Sorrow avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Gobbler. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sorrow bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Gobbler's head.
Sorrow darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Sorrow shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gobbler manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Gobbler is working an open guard so Sorrow takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Good exchange - Sorrow coming out on top.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Sorrow has eaten all the pies!
Gobbler takes one on the button.

Sorrow fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gobbler, pushing him back against the cage.
Sorrow tries to break the clinch but Gobbler is controlling the position.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Sorrow turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Sorrow manages to end up in side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sorrow tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Sorrow is trying to get an arm triangle but Gobbler is defending well.

Sorrow working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Sorrow is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gobbler knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Sorrow has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Gobbler!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sorrow misses with a few strikes there.

Sorrow gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Sorrow throws a right and a left that Gobbler avoids nicely.

Sorrow changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gobbler fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Gobbler looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
James Gobbler is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sorrow is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Sorrow sizes up Gobbler with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Sorrow shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Sorrow gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Sorrow throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gobbler's waist but Gobbler gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sorrow off to one side.

Gobbler is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sorrow knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Sorrow wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Gobbler wants to control but Sorrow is keeping him busy.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sorrow is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gobbler trying to control the position but Sorrow is working away.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
A cross from Sorrow lands.
Gobbler avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A chopping leg kick lands by Sorrow.
Sorrow buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Sorrow misses with a kick to the body.

and Gobbler counters with a nice double leg into side control. Sorrow won't be happy with that.
James Gobbler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scott Sorrow.
Sorrow wants to get back to his feet but Gobbler drags him back down.
Gobbler wants to control but Sorrow is keeping him busy.

Scott Sorrow showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Gobbler looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Sorrow tries for a takedown but Gobbler circles away easily

and Gobbler counters with a shoot takedown. Sorrow fights it but they end up in guard.
Gobbler seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Gobbler looking to sit in guard and control but Sorrow gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Scott Sorrow has got the better of the ground game so far.

Sorrow postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gobbler is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sorrow, into his guard.

Gobbler won't allow Sorrow to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sorrow uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Gobbler avoids a punch combination nicely.

Sorrow drives through with a takedown into guard.
Scott Sorrow is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Sorrow gets to his feet - Gobbler follows without any prompting.
Sorrow looks to score with a jab to the body but Gobbler is just out of range.

Sorrow manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Gobbler moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Gobbler takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sorrow feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Scott Sorrow comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sorrow has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
