The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phillips throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Machida slips a jab and a cross from Phillips.
Machida throws a jab but it's blocked by Phillips.

Machida is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Phillips.

Diamond Phillips seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Machida fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Phillips manages to avoid it.
Machida is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Phillips.
Machida throws a hook but Phillips blocks it.
Phillips throws the left hand but Machida avoids the punch easily.
Machida connects with a good right hand that stumbles Phillips. Phillips circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Phillips swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

It looks like Lyoto Machida has been cut.
Phillips uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Machida.
Phillips jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Machida scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Phillips doesn't seem bothered though.

Machida throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

It's a brutal combination of punches from Machida! Phillips is backing up but he can't get away as Machida lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Phillips and ends the fight. Great knockout.
