Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Demyan Kolovski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kolovski's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, "War Within a Breath" by Rage Against the Machine. Frank Mir has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Demyan Kolovski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Alyssa Summers and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir slips a jab and a cross from Kolovski.

Kolovski shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Kolovski is looking to advance position but Mir won't allow it.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kolovski connects with a nice short shot to Mir's temple.
Mir wants to improve his position but Kolovski is controlling well.

Kolovski looks to land a strike but Mir avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kolovski slaps away a takedown attempt from Mir, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kolovski ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kolovski knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mir on the ground.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Mir connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kolovski's hands.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Kolovski here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Kolovski fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mir throws a shot from downtown. Kolovski moves away and avoids it.
Mir cracks a nice hook into Kolovski's ribs.
Mir leaves Kolovski with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Kolovski shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kolovski was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Mir is looking for a sweep. Kolovski is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Kolovski changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mir looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Kolovski wants to control for a moment but Mir uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Mir is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Kolovski wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mir keeps working.
Mir is pressing down on Kolovski's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Mir is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kolovski keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mir's head.

Mir isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kolovski stacks Mir on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kolovski!

Mir is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kolovski connects with a decent elbow.

Kolovski lands a nice forearm strike.
Mir is not content to let Kolovski control the position.

Kolovski is trying to move to mount but Mir reverses beautifully and ends up in Kolovski's guard.

Mir drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kolovski manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mir has Kolovski in his guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Kolovski's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

It looks like Demyan Kolovski has been cut.
Kolovski shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mir but Mir pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kolovski uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mir.
Mir misses with an uppercut. Kolovski saw that one coming.
Kolovski swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Kolovski throws a hook to the side of Mir's head but Mir sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Mir lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

You can see the frustration on Kolovski's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Mir takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kolovski holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.

Mir is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kolovski knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Kolovski is landing with some decent strikes but Mir is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kolovski is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mir sees it coming and defends easily.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Demyan Kolovski.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kolovski, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
