Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Riggins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duane Jeffersson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Riggins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Duane Jeffersson! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jeffersson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Riggins looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Riggins working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Jeffersson's thigh. Jeffersson counters though and makes it back to full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jeffersson keeping full guard, as Riggins tries to pass. Riggins trying to control but Jeffersson is working from the bottom. Jeffersson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Riggins. Riggins trying to control the position from guard on top but Jeffersson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riggins working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Riggins has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Jeffersson fails in his attempt to clinch. Jeffersson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Riggins changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jeffersson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Riggins with the ground and pound but Jeffersson regains half guard under the barage of strikes. Jeffersson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Riggins is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Riggins looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jeffersson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Riggins not landing any meaningful shots this time. Jeffersson tries to kick Riggins off but Riggins keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Riggins really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Jeffersson looks gassed! Riggins is looking to advance position but Jeffersson won't allow it. Riggins trying to control from half guard but Jeffersson is working away. Riggins throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Riggins wants to advance to full mount but Jeffersson doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Riggins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jeffersson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jeffersson keeping moving, preventing Riggins from controlling successfully.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Jeffersson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Jeffersson is looking to clinch. Riggins throws a right hand that Jeffersson ducks under and follows up with a left that Jeffersson also avoids with ease. Riggins changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jeffersson tries to avoid it but Riggins manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jeffersson to the ground. Jeffersson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jeffersson closes the distance and clinches. Jeffersson prevents the takedown attempt.
Jeffersson wants to get back to striking at distance but Riggins won't allow it.

Riggins bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Riggins wants to control but Jeffersson is keeping him busy. Riggins landing a few strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jeffersson is pushing Riggins's head away, looking to escape. Riggins manages to hold on to the position though. Riggins working the head and body with strikes.
Jeffersson is rocked! Riggins looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Riggins working the head and body with strikes. Jeffersson is still in real trouble! Can Riggins finish him? Riggins landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jeffersson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Riggins has just dragged him back down to the mat. Riggins scores with punches from side control. Riggins working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Riggins is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jeffersson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Riggins goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Jeffersson rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Riggins's guard! Nice work there by Jeffersson! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Riggins dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Jeffersson circles away from the clinch attempt and Jeffersson counters with a single leg into guard. Riggins didn't expect that. Riggins bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jeffersson's guard. Jeffersson seems to have recovered his senses. Riggins postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jeffersson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Riggins, into his guard. Jeffersson is looking to stand up but Riggins won't let him. Riggins wants to improve his position but instead Jeffersson has moved into half guard.
John Riggins overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jeffersson wants to stand up but Riggins is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riggins wants to get back to full guard. Riggins trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Jeffersson manages to pass to mount!
Jeffersson stands up from mount. Strange move. Jeffersson throws a combination that misses and Riggins counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Jeffersson tries to kick Riggins off but Riggins keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Jeffersson won't allow Riggins to pass to mount. Riggins is just content to waste time from the top position. Jeffersson takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Riggins landing some decent shots from guard. Riggins throws a strike but Jeffersson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Riggins wants to improve his position but instead Jeffersson has moved into half guard.
Riggins is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Jeffersson pulls his head out easily. Riggins is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Riggins is working hard here to advance position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riggins looking for submissions off his back. Riggins makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Riggins. Riggins might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Riggins escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jeffersson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Jeffersson tries to stand but Riggins is controlling from the bottom.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Jeffersson misses with a double jab
and Riggins counters with a one-two to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jeffersson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Riggins sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Riggins tries to roll over but Jeffersson keeps him under control. Riggins trying to control here.

Riggins wants to control but Jeffersson is keeping busy and won't allow it. Riggins looking for submissions off his back. Jeffersson tries to stand but can't do so whilst Riggins controls his leg. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Duane Jeffersson will probably get the nod - 10:9. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Riggins throws the kick towards the body but Jeffersson avoids it. Riggins feints and as Jeffersson raises his hands in defense, Riggins changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Riggins tries to free his leg and advance position but Jeffersson is retaining full guard. Riggins is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Jeffersson is looking to stand up but Riggins isn't so interested in that idea. Jeffersson keeping moving, preventing Riggins from controlling successfully. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Jeffersson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Jeffersson keeping moving, preventing Riggins from controlling successfully.

John Riggins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jeffersson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Riggins counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Jeffersson is refusing to be controlled, as Riggins sits in half guard. Nice strikes from Riggins there. Riggins seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jeffersson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Riggins is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Riggins takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jeffersson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Riggins. Riggins wants to pass to mount but Jeffersson is defending the position.

Riggins frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Riggins trying to control but Jeffersson is having none of it. Riggins jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Jeffersson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Jeffersson and Riggins has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Riggins working the ground and pound. Jeffersson is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Riggins is controlling him well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Riggins thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Jeffersson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Riggins asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Riggins scores with a couple of short elbows. Jeffersson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Riggins is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jeffersson has escaped the position, nice work there. Riggins tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Riggins working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Riggins lands some shots froms side control.
And that's the end of the fight! John Riggins showed his dominance in that final round. I think Riggins has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
