Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Martell Hennessey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cliff Wagner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Martell Hennessey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cliff Wagner!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hennessey throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hennessey misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Wagner tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Hennessey closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Wagner has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hennessey is working away from the top position though.

Wagner has a hand on Hennessey's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Hennessey takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Hennessey stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Wagner is trying to buck Hennessey off.
Hennessey remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Wagner wants to control but Hennessey postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hennessey rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wagner moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hennessey swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Hennessey has picked Wagner up - he's going for a ride! Hennessey dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Wagner is looking to control Hennessey's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wagner avoid being mounted?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wagner moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Wagner is wriggling around but Hennessey manages to pass to half guard.
Wagner wants to improve his position but Hennessey is controlling well.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hennessey in particular looking to stall.
Wagner is looking for a sweep. Hennessey is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hennessey looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Wagner is fending him off so far but Hennessey persists. Nope, Wagner circles away and we're back to standing.
Wagner shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hennessey sprawls well. Hennessey wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wagner gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Wagner throws a head kick that misses.

Hennessey drops Wagner with a beautiful combination! Wagner stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Hennessey is looking for the KO!


It looks like Cliff Wagner has been cut.
Wagner slips a jab and a cross from Hennessey.
Wagner fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

and Wagner counters by clinching up.
Wagner is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Hennessey is keeping busy.
Wagner is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hennessey pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Martell Hennessey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cliff Wagner.

Hennessey breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Wagner takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Wagner throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Hennessey closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hennessey lands in his opponent's guard.

Wagner is wriggling around but Hennessey manages to pass to half guard.

Still in half guard, Hennessey seems content to control.
Wagner has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hennessey is working away from the top position though.
Hennessey seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Wagner won't allow Hennessey to pass to mount.

And that's the end of the fight!
Martell Hennessey showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Hennessey has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
