Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Leg Sweeperton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ricardo Gracie! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sweeperton swings for the body but Gracie moves out of range.
Sweeperton defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gracie. Gracie closes the distance and clinches up with Sweeperton, looking for a takedown. Gracie pushes Sweeperton against the cage but Sweeperton circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gracie. Leg Sweeperton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ricardo Gracie. Gracie shoots for a double leg takedown but Sweeperton sprawls well. He's pushed Gracie's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Gracie shoots in for a takedown but Sweeperton shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sweeperton as he avoids it easily. Gracie has a takedown stuffed. Gracie shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gracie is defended easily by Sweeperton. Sweeperton gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gracie to score an easy takedown into full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sweeperton managing to control the position. Sweeperton manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Gracie is controlling an arm, preventing Sweeperton from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Sweeperton takes Gracie's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Gracie is in trouble.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Sweeperton.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Sweeperton's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Sweeperton controlling the position well here. Gracie rolled but Sweeperton kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sweeperton is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

Sweeperton has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Gracie has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sweeperton gets his hands free as Gracie looks to control. Sweeperton misses with an elbow to the head. Sweeperton has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Sweeperton really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Gracie. Gracie is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Leg Sweeperton dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Sweeperton throws a sloppy head kick and Gracie moves out of range easily. No luck for Gracie with that takedown attempt. Gracie shoots in but no luck this time. Sweeperton throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ricardo Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gracie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sweeperton's waist but Sweeperton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gracie off to one side. Leg Sweeperton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ricardo Gracie. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gracie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sweeperton is fending him off so far but Gracie persists. Nope, Sweeperton circles away and we're back to standing. Sweeperton throws a body punch but Gracie moves out of range. Sweeperton throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Gracie blocks a jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Gracie. Gracie misses with a takedown attempt - Sweeperton sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Gracie is breathing heavily. Sweeperton misses the shot to the body. Sweeperton misses with a low kick.
Gracie dives in and grabs Sweeperton's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sweeperton pushes down on Gracie's head and hops out. Sweeperton shoots in and bounces Gracie off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Sweeperton pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gracie is keeping the position for now. Sweeperton trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sweeperton slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Sweeperton looking to pass the guard. Sweepertonis looking to pass into half guard but Gracie pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Gracie is in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sweeperton looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Sweeperton seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Sweeperton looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Gracie advances to half guard. Sweeperton is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gracie's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gracie's back! Sweeperton is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Gracie has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Sweeperton has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Gracie taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Sweeperton doesn't care though - he's delighted!
