The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Merenhor misses with a jab, cross combination.
Merenhor feints and as Mendez raises his hands in defense, Merenhor changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Merenhor trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Merenhor stopping the sweep attempt from Mendez.
Merenhor knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mendez on the ground.
Mendez lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Merenhor!
Mendez jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Merenhor is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Merenhor and Mendez has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Mendez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Merenhor keeps working.

Mendez has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mendez there as he acknowledges the shot.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mendez misses with a double jab.
Oooh a lovely combination from Merenhor sends Mendez down but not out. Merenhor dives into side control looking to finish.
Mendez is rocked!
Mendez tries to improve position but can't.
Merenhor connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Mendez some visible discomfort.
Mendez is still in real trouble! Can Merenhor finish him?
Merenhor is working Mendez over with some ground and pound from side control.
Mendez looks gassed!
A big shot lands for Merenhor! That's hurt Mendez! Will he recover? Merenhor fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
