Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Shlemenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Desmoraine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Sergei Shlemenko has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sergei Shlemenko! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Desmoraine! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Mauricio Rocha and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Desmoraine scores with a takedown into Shlemenko's guard. Shlemenko wants to stand and escape but Desmoraine is having none of it. Desmoraine has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Shlemenko is proving hard to escape from. Shlemenko wants to get back to his feet but Desmoraine is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Desmoraine really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shlemenko. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Desmoraine trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Shlemenko working a defensive guard but Desmoraine manages to pass into side control anyway.

It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Shlemenko looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

You can see the frustration on Shlemenko's face as Desmoraine controls the position. Desmoraine's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Shlemenko prevents Desmoraine from moving into mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Desmoraine is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Shlemenko's shoulder. That is not cool. Let's hope that Desmoraine has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Desmoraine goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Shlemenko rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Desmoraine's guard! Nice work there by Shlemenko! Shlemenko working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Shlemenko stands up from Desmoraine's guard - Shlemenko perhaps looking for a knockout. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Desmoraine is looking to clinch but Shlemenko is avoiding it.

Shlemenko tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Desmoraine tries to clinch but Shlemenko moves out of range. Shlemenko circles away from the clinch attempt and Shlemenko connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Desmoraine shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Desmoraine wants to take a breather but Shlemenko is having none of it. Desmoraine is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Desmoraine takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Desmoraine will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Desmoraine takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Shlemenko fails to land with a series of punches.
Shlemenko thumps Desmoraine with a low kick. The fight stays on the outside here - Shlemenko looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Shlemenko closes the distance but Desmoraine moves to the side and Desmoraine counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Shlemenko is trying to maintain a safe position but Desmoraine gets an underhook and turns Shlemenko into the cage. Shlemenko tries to circle away but Desmoraine has him pinned against the cage. Shlemenko breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sergei Shlemenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Desmoraine is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Shlemenko. Shlemenko throws a head kick that misses. Shlemenko throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Shlemenko lands a head kick. Desmoraine smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Shlemenko with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Shlemenko connects with a high kick. Desmoraine misses with a takedown attempt - Shlemenko sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Shlemenko tries a head kick but it misses.
Desmoraine throws out a powerful jab. Desmoraine keeps Shlemenko at a distance using the push kick. Desmoraine throws a push kick but Shlemenko slaps the foot to one side. Desmoraine changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Shlemenko looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Desmoraine looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Desmoraine throwing strikes but Shlemenko manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Desmoraine is looking to regain half guard here but Shlemenko keeps moving and retains side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Desmoraine is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Desmoraine is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Desmoraine is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. Desmoraine is trying to escape the mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Shlemenko wants to control the pace but Desmoraine is squirming around nicely. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Desmoraine tries to reverse the position but Shlemenko maintains control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Shlemenko is trying to escape back to his feet but Desmoraine uses the scramble to pass into side control.

That has opened up Paul Desmoraine's cut even more. Shlemenko dives in and grabs Desmoraine's left leg, looking for a takedown. Desmoraine pushes down on Shlemenko's head and hops out. Desmoraine misses with a head kick.
Desmoraine looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Shlemenko keeping moving, preventing Desmoraine from controlling successfully. Desmoraine must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sergei Shlemenko has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Desmoraine trying to keep a closed guard but Shlemenko is proving a slippery customer.
Shlemenko stands and steps away. Desmoraine gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Desmoraine wants to control from the top but Shlemenko keeps moving. Paul Desmoraine is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
And that's the end of the fight! Sergei Shlemenko showed his dominance in that final round. I think Desmoraine has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
