Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Barry Shirk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Average Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe has chosen prodigy- omen as his entrance music. Average Joe will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Barry Shirk! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Average Joe! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shirk clinches with his opponent.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Joe lands an elbow inside. A nice right hand lands inside from Joe. Joe gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Shirk regains guard.
Shirk wants to sweep but no luck. Shirk is working hard here to advance position. Shirk throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Shirk avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Shirk has a closed guard, preventing Joe from standing up. Shirk throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Joe content to stall in guard here. Joe stands up from Shirk's guard - Joe perhaps looking for a knockout. Joe drives through with a takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Joe tries to free his leg and advance position but Shirk is retaining full guard. Shirk doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Shirk might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Joe decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Shirk, up you get! Joe wants to clinch but Shirk slips to the side and Shirk counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Shirk scoring with punches to the head and body. Joe avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Shirk trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Shirk scoring with some ground and pound. Shirk is breathing heavily. Joe pushes Shirk off and gets back to his feet.
Joe tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Shirk holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Joe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Joe gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Shirk counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Joe! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Joe is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Shirk putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Joe swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing. Joe tries to reverse the position but Shirk maintains control. Shirk working for a submission but Joe is keeping him at bay. Joe's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shirk scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Joe?
It looks like Average Joe has been cut. Joe wants to control but Shirk is having none of it. Shirk is working for a guillotine from mount but Joe frees his head quite easily.

Joe is rocked! Shirk working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Joe is still on wobbly legs! Can Shirk finish him? That's four minutes gone in the round. Joe gets to his feet - Shirk follows without any prompting. Joe fails with the takedown and Shirk counters with a single leg into guard. Joe didn't expect that. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Shirk keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Joe's head. Shirk won't allow Joe to get back to his feet. Joe seems keen to control Shirk's posture. Joe pushes Shirk off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Joe wants to clinch and Shirk counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Shirk misses with an elbow strike.

Shirk closes the distance and clinches up with Joe, looking for a takedown. Shirk pushes Joe against the cage but Joe circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Joe tries to clinch but Shirk moves away and Shirk counters by clinching up. Knees in the clinch landing for Shirk.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Shirk drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Joe gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Barry Shirk. That's going to take a lot out of him. Shirk changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Joe fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Joe tries to keep at a distance but Shirk has taken the fight into the clinch. Joe throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Shirk blocks it with crossed arms. Joe lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Shirk backwards. Joe taking a break, stalling in the clinch.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Joe gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Shirk counters with a shoot takedown. Joe has one foot on Shirk's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Shirk scores a takedown into full mount! Joe is looking to improve his position but Shirk isn't that keen on the idea. Joe trying desperately to get to his feet.

Shirk with the ground and pound from mount. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Shirk cracks Joe with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Joe wants to hold on but Shirk pushes him away. Shirk scoring with strikes but Joe is staying in there.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Shirk looking to finish Joe with some ground and pound. This is bad for Joe! Joe manages to regain half guard. Good work. Joe makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Shirk checks the leg kick. Joe fails in his attempt to clinch. Joe wants to clinch. Joe moves in looking to clinch but Shirk pushes him off. Shirk misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Joe scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shirk tries to get back to half guard but can't. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Shirk is just riding it out for now. Joe eventually gives up the hold. Shirk moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Joe is breathing heavily.

Shirk showed some decent athleticism there. Joe is trying to stand up here but Shirk is controlling him well. Joe regains full guard. Nicely done. Barry Shirk overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Shirk's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Joe pushes Shirk off and scrambles back to his feet.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Joe in particular looking to stall. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Barry Shirk dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Average Joe's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Joe lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Shirk can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Joe and Shirk drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Joe.
