Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Con Kostakidis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ezekiel Ezekiel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kostakidis is looking to clinch.
Kostakidis lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Ezekiel backs up against the cage.
Kostakidis slaps away a takedown attempt from Ezekiel, before circling back to the center of the mat.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kostakidis.
Kostakidis could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Kostakidis fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kostakidis rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ezekiel moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kostakidis lands with a kick to the ribs.
Kostakidis keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Con Kostakidis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ezekiel moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Ezekiel decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ezekiel throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kostakidis's waist but Kostakidis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ezekiel off to one side.
Con Kostakidis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ezekiel Ezekiel.
Ezekiel misses with the body kick
and Kostakidis counters with a takedown into side control.
Ezekiel tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Ezekiel is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Kostakidis tries to advance to mount but can't.
Kostakidis decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ezekiel to his feet.
Kostakidis is breathing heavily.

Ezekiel rushes Kostakidis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Ezekiel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Kostakidis tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Ezekiel avoids it.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Kostakidis jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ezekiel walks away with a smile on his face. Kostakidis gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Ezekiel shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Kostakidis is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Ezekiel scores with a couple of nice shots.

Ezekiel content to control rather than advance.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Con Kostakidis dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Ezekiel moves into the clinch successfully.

Ezekiel tries to score a body lock takedown but Kostakidis shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Ezekiel has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kostakidis uses from the top position.

Kostakidis stands and steps away. Ezekiel gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Kostakidis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ezekiel defends it easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ezekiel is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Let's hope that Ezekiel has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Kostakidis has momentary wrist control but Ezekiel slips an elbow through the middle.

Ezekiel shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kostakidis sprawls well. Kostakidis wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ezekiel gets slowly back to his feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kostakidis fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ezekiel avoids it really well and circles away.

Ezekiel changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kostakidis tries to avoid it but Ezekiel manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kostakidis to the ground. Kostakidis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ezekiel tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kostakidis swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Kostakidis sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Ezekiel Ezekiel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kostakidis tries to break the clinch but Ezekiel is controlling the position.
Kostakidis wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Kostakidis is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.

Ezekiel is stalling here. Kostakidis is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Ezekiel seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kostakidis has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

What can Kostakidis do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
