1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stu Bennett! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gregor Samsa! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Bennett. No joy for Samsa on that attempt. Bennett slaps away a takedown attempt from Samsa, before circling back to the center of the mat. Gregor Samsa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Samsa throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Bennett is breathing heavily. Samsa wants to clinch up but Bennett keeps it at a distance. Bennett gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Samsa connects with a knee to the head.
It looks like Stu Bennett has been cut. Bennett misses with a short punch on the inside. Samsa looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Samsa tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bennett smiles and moves away.
Stu Bennett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gregor Samsa. Bennett throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Bennett looks to score with a jab to the body but Samsa is just out of range. A head kick misses from Samsa. Bennett moves into the clinch. Samsa wants a takedown but no success here.
Bennett tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Samsa is trying to drag Bennett to the mat but Bennett just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Samsa is trying to maintain a safe position but Bennett gets an underhook and turns Samsa into the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Samsa tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Bennett smiles and moves away.
Samsa tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bennett swivels and escapes. Samsa thuds a left hand into Bennett's body. Samsa fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Bennett. Samsa tries to clinch and Bennett counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Samsa looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Samsa moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Samsa looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Bennett is defending well. Samsa quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Bennett has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Samsa celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
