Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mio Jakovina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Bernard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dave Bernard is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mio Jakovina!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dave Bernard!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bernard shoots in looking for a takedown. Jakovina tries to sprawl out of it but Bernard keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Jakovina manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Dave Bernard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bernard is looking to clinch.
Bernard wants to clinch up but Jakovina keeps it at a distance.
Bernard tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jakovina swats him away and circles back towards the center.
An inside leg kick from Bernard misses.

and Bernard counters with a head kick that drops Jakovina to the mat! Jakovina scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!


Jakovina is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bernard tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Jakovina paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jakovina tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bernard swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mio Jakovina. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bernard lands a big head kick that sends Jakovina tumbling to the mat! Bernard takes a step backwards and waves Jakovina back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Oh Jakovina is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bernard tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Jakovina paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jakovina seems to have got his legs back now.

Jakovina avoids the head kick by Bernard.
Bernard wants to clinch.

Bernard lands a big head kick that sends Jakovina tumbling to the mat! Bernard takes a step backwards and waves Jakovina back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Bernard fails to land the takedown.

Jakovina closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jakovina lands in his opponent's guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Jakovina prevents Bernard from getting back to his feet.

Jakovina stands up and waves to Bernard to follow him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Jakovina shoots for a takedown but Bernard saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Bernard counters with a takedown into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jakovina holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Bernard wants to stand but Jakovina has his arm trapped.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Bernard dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Bernard fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jakovina, pushing him back against the ropes.
Jakovina jumps guard but Bernard stands there with Jakovina around his waist. Jakovina gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jakovina tries for a takedown. No joy.
Jakovina is working for takedown but Bernard is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mio Jakovina. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bernard is pressed up against the ropes. Jakovina has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Bernard down to the mat. Bernard avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Jakovina tries to clinch but Bernard moves away

and Bernard holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Bernard.
Bernard throws an elbow but it's blocked.
A head punch on the inside from Bernard fails to land.
Bernard throws a knee to the head but misses.
Jakovina jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Bernard walks away with a smile on his face. Jakovina gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Bernard darts in trying to clinch
and Jakovina counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Jakovina misses with a combination

and Bernard counters with a single leg into guard. Jakovina didn't expect that.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jakovina is on top in guard.
Bernard can't keep his opponent in guard - Jakovina advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Jakovina stops Bernard from getting back to his feet.
Jakovina throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Jakovina winds up and cracks Bernard with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Jakovina is really struggling to control Bernard but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Jakovina stands up and beckons Bernard to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Jakovina moves into the clinch.
Jakovina blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Bernard throws a head punch that misses.
Bernard prevents a takedown attempt there.
The referee is keeping an eye on Bernard - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Dave Bernard will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Jakovina misses with a takedown attempt - Bernard sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Jakovina gets underhooks to prevent Bernard's takedown attempt.

Bernard lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jakovina jumps guard and drags Bernard to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

and Jakovina counters by clinching up.

Mio Jakovina has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Bernard.
Bernard takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Bernard has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jakovina avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Bernard has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jakovina is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Bernard misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Jakovina.

Bernard is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Jakovina scores with a couple of nice shots.

Jakovina seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Bernard for as long as he can get away with.

Mio Jakovina overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Dave Bernard is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Jakovina tries to pull guard but Bernard won't allow it.
Bernard gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Jakovina.

Jakovina gets control of Bernard's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jakovina will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Mio Jakovina showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Bernard has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
