Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Ombretti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chuck Liddell has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Ombretti! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chuck Liddell! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ombretti uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Liddell.
A big right from Liddell misses. Ombretti moves out of range as Liddell strikes. Ombretti shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Liddell is trying to defend but Ombretti finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Ombretti is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Liddell sees it coming and defends easily. Liddell wants to get back to his feet. Ombretti could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Ombretti is working for a kimura but Liddell is defending it quite comfortably.
Liddell tries to kick Ombretti off in order to stand up. Ombretti Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Liddell is pushing Ombretti's head away, looking to escape. Ombretti manages to hold on to the position though. Ombretti tries for a kimura but Liddell is defending well. Ombretti is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Liddell is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ombretti decides to take the fight back to the feet. Liddell stuffs the takedown. Ombretti shoots in and bounces Liddell off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Ombretti stops Liddell from standing up. Ombretti gets to his feet - Liddell follows without any prompting. Ombretti lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Liddell displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ombretti. Ombretti is breathing heavily. Ombretti shoots in for a takedown but Liddell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Ombretti. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ombretti keeps the fight on the outside.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Liddell throws a series of punches but Ombretti avoids them all with ease. Ombretti shoots in but no luck this time. Liddell throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Liddell misses with a hook. Ombretti shoots in and drives through. Liddell sprawls well. Liddell finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Ombretti looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Liddell tries to bum rush Ombretti with a series of wild strikes but Ombretti uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Ombretti drives through and clinches with Liddell against the cage.
Liddell wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ombretti has him pressed against the cage. Liddell is trying to drag Ombretti to the mat but Ombretti just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Liddell can't break the clinch.
Ombretti has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Liddell is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ombretti can't get the takedown.
Ombretti jumps guard and drags Liddell to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Liddell stands up from Ombretti's guard - Liddell perhaps looking for a knockout. Liddell throws a hook but Ombretti blocks it. Ombretti shoots in but Liddell avoids the takedown attempt easily. Ombretti uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Liddell. Ombretti throws a front kick that sends Liddell stumbling back into the cage. Liddell throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Ombretti counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Liddell is lucky that one didn't land flush. Ombretti fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Ombretti uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Liddell. Liddell missing with a left hand there. Ombretti was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ombretti.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Liddell stuffs the takedown attempt from Ombretti. Ombretti gets slowly back to his feet. Liddell wants to clinch but Ombretti slips to the side and Ombretti counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Liddell's guard now. Ombretti is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Ombretti working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Ombretti postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Ombretti prevents Liddell from getting back to his feet. Liddell keeping moving, preventing Ombretti from controlling successfully. Liddell wants to get back to his feet but Ombretti is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ombretti is looking to work some ground and pound but Liddell has wrist control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dan Ombretti dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Liddell lands with a cross. Ombretti darts in and clinches Liddell up against the cage. Liddell prevents the takedown attempt.
Liddell is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ombretti pulls him back up using the underhooks. Liddell looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Ombretti keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Liddell's efforts to push away. Ombretti is trying to drag Liddell to the mat but Liddell just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Liddell fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Liddell wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Liddell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Liddell throws a sloppy head kick and Ombretti counters with a nice kick to the body. Liddell takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Liddell throws out a loose jab but Ombretti uses good head movement to avoid it. Ombretti changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Liddell tries to avoid it but Ombretti manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Liddell to the ground. Liddell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Ombretti. That's going to take a lot out of him. Liddell is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ombretti. Ombretti fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Liddell avoids it really well and circles away. Ombretti punishes Liddell's body with a nice straight punch. Liddell leaves Ombretti with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Liddell drives through and clinches with Ombretti against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Liddell's face as he tries to break the clinch. Liddell wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Liddell tries to break free but Ombretti pushes him back against the cage. Ombretti unloads a knee to the mid-section. Ombretti is trying to drag Liddell to the mat but Liddell just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Ombretti keeps control of Liddell as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Liddell is trying to break the clinch but Ombretti has him pressed against the cage. Liddell has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Ombretti has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Liddell avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Ombretti has Liddell pressed against the cage, preventing Liddell from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Liddell lands with a short shot to the head. Ombretti pulls guard successfully.
Liddell avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Ombretti is looking to stand up but Liddell isn't so interested in that idea. Liddell is looking to stand up but Ombretti won't let him. Ombretti is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Liddell is defending against the submission attempts here by Ombretti.
Dan Ombretti overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Liddell is looking for a sweep. Ombretti is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Liddell pushes Ombretti off looking to stand but Ombretti dives back in and keeps control.
Ombretti is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Liddell! Ombretti trying to control but he's not successful this time. Liddell wants to get back to his feet.
Ombretti is working for a guillotine from mount but Liddell frees his head quite easily.
Liddell is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Liddell takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Liddell really wants to buck Ombretti off and get back to his feet. Liddell is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Liddell regains half guard. Ombretti seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Liddell is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
